The Old Orchard

The Old Orchard

Project

Origin Transport Consultants Ltd were commissioned by Woolbro Morris Ltd to prepare a Transport Statement in support of a planning application for a residential development in the historic market town of Berkhamsted in Hertfordshire.

The development 'The Old Orchard' will incorporate 17 beautifully designed residential apartments, each with its own private balcony. The development will also benefit from landscaped gardens, as well as off-street parking allocated to each apartment. Surrounded by parklands, and with great transport links to central London, this development will be the perfect place for growing families and city commuters alike.

A Technical Note was initially prepared which concentrated on the new site access and the effect of the proposed development on the nearby signalised junction. A pre-application site meeting was also conducted with Hertfordshire County Council Highways to agree the location of the proposed site access and the scope of the Transport Statement.

A Swept Path Analysis was conducted of the site entrance and the site to ensure a large refuse vehicle could access and egress the site in forward gear. A Swept Path Analysis of the car parking spaces in the basement car park was also conducted to ensure all parking spaces could be accessed.

Modelling of the Shootersway signalised junction demonstrated that the additional development traffic would have a minimal effect on the operation of the signalised junction.

A Construction Traffic Management Plan was also produced to minimise the effects of the construction traffic travelling to and from the site during the construction period and ensure safety for all road users. The plan includes information on construction workers parking, the expected number of HGVs and the proposed routing for HGVs.
